My Story

I’m so excited (and a little terrified!) to be running the 2026 London Marathon for Unique - a charity that means the world to my family.

Nearly 10 years ago, my eldest son was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder. Back then, information was scarce, confusing, and often scary. Then we found Unique, and everything changed. They gave us clear, trusted information and connected us with an incredible community of families who understood exactly what we were going through.

Thanks to Unique, we swapped fear for hope, and today, my son is thriving. Now I want to give something back. Running the London Marathon is my way of saying thank you and helping Unique keep doing what they do best: supporting families affected by rare chromosome and gene disorders.

And to make my first marathon even more memorable, I’m planning to run the marathon in wellies. My aim? To break the current women’s world record for the fastest marathon run in wellies: 3 hours, 59 minutes, and 57 seconds! But for me, wearing wellies is about more than just a quirky challenge; it’s a symbol of the tough, sometimes uncomfortable journey that people and families with rare chromosome disorders face every day. Yes, it’s ambitious, a bit wild, and definitely outside my comfort zone, but it’s all for Unique and the families they support.

If you can, please support me on this amazing journey. Together, we can help more families feel less alone and more hopeful for the future.
