Liam's London Marathon for Freya
Liam Williams
My Story
In January 2025, my wonderful, sassy, energetic 9-year-old niece, Freya, was diagnosed with a rare and terminal brain tumour. In the months that followed, she underwent radiotherapy treatment at Manchester Children’s Hospital, where she bravely faced the unimaginable. Throughout this heartbreaking period, the support provided for the whole family by Young Lives vs Cancer through Jack’s House was nothing short of extraordinary.
For my family and me, Jack’s House became a place of comfort and emotional support where staff offered kindness, understanding, and empathy. Their care helped us navigate the overwhelming challenges that came with Freya’s illness, providing strength when we felt uncertain and alone.
It is because of the profound difference Young Lives made to our lives that I am determined to give something back. It is heartbreaking to share that Freya passed away just 8 months after her diagnosis, but the impact Young Lives vs Cancer had on our family as part of her story remains significant. I am running the London Marathon for Young Lives vs Cancer to raise awareness and funds to ensure that Young Lives can continue offering their incredible support to other children and families.
This marathon represents more than just a physical challenge to me; it is a personal mission to honour Freya – to honour her bravery, courage, and fighting spirit that never wavered. Please join me by contributing in any way you can to a cause that provided our family with light in one of our darkest times and give hope to families who need it most.
