My Story

I did it! And it was one of the hardest things I've done.

Thank you so much for supporting  me and supporting Henshaws.

I'm running the London Marathon for Henshaws!
 šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸŽ‰

This year,  I’ll be taking on my first-ever marathon—the London Marathon—and I’ve set myself the ambitious goal of raising Ā£2,000 in support of Henshaws, an incredible local charity based in Knaresborough.

Henshaws provides life-changing support for adults living with visual impairments and those with additional needs. As both a teacher and a SENCo, I’m passionate about ensuring children and young people receive the best support possible—and now I want to take that care beyond the classroom and into the wider community.
My family has proudly supported Henshaws in the past—including taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise funds—but now it’s my turn to step up. Running 26.2 miles will be no easy task, but knowing I’m helping such an amazing charity will keep me going every step of the way.

Your donation can make a real difference:
  • Ā£50 funds a creative workshop at the Arts & Crafts Centre, giving people a space to express themselves and build confidence.
  • Ā£150 enables a student with disabilities to access vital therapies such as hydrotherapy and physiotherapy and supports them with their wellbeing and independence.
  • Ā£200 could provide specialist tools and adaptive materials, helping ensure every student can fully engage in the activities they love.
If you’re able, please consider sponsoring me—together we can make a real difference.

Thank you so much for your support! šŸ’—

About the London Marathon

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ā€˜to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
