My Story

I run and fundrise because love doesn’t disappear when someone does.

My brother was only 23 when sarcoma cancer took his life. He wasn’t just my brother — he was my best friend, my safe place, my constant. Losing him shattered my world in a way I never knew was possible. No one is ever ready to lose their best friend, especially not so young, especially not to something so cruel. Life kept moving, but a part of me stayed with him, frozen in that moment when everything changed.

Running the London Marathon is my way of carrying him forward. Every mile is for him and with him — for his strength, his laughter, his dreams that didn’t get the chance to grow old. When my legs hurt and my breath feels heavy, I remind myself that pain can be transformed into purpose. This marathon is not about speed or medals; it’s about love, remembrance, and refusing to let his story end in silence.

I’m also running for every family living this nightmare right now — for the siblings, parents, and friends learning how to breathe after loss. For those sitting in hospital rooms, hoping, praying, and holding on. This run is for awareness, for compassion, and for the belief that even in the deepest grief, we can choose to do something meaningful. I run for everyone. And most of all, I run for him.

this is in memory of Andres Rafael, love you.
