Championing Play, Even in the Toughest Times: Why We Support Starlight
As someone who firmly believes in the power of play, I’ve always felt that every child – regardless of their circumstances – should have the chance to experience joy, laughter and creativity. Play isn’t just fun; it’s healing, empowering, and a vital part of growing up.
That’s why finding a charity that shares this philosophy was so important to me. When I discovered Starlight, I knew I’d found the perfect partner. Starlight is an incredible organisation that helps seriously ill children rediscover the magic of play, even in the most challenging environments such as hospitals and hospices.
They bring moments of light to the darkest of days, giving children the chance to simply be children again – smiling, laughing and playing – when they need it most.
I’m so proud to be running in support of such a meaningful cause. Supporting Starlight isn’t just about raising funds – it’s about standing up for joy, resilience, and every child’s right to feel like a kid again.
My own coaching company, Sportstopia, proudly shares this mission. We’re committed to promoting the importance of play and will continue to support Starlight by raising awareness and vital funds to help their brilliant work reach as many children as possible.
Together, we can help keep play alive for every child, everywhere.
The healing power of play
At first glance, it’s easy to think that play happens when the important stuff is taken care of. But for children, play is central to the way they learn and cope with new challenges.
That’s why Starlight are committed to making play matter so much, it becomes an intrinsic part of every child’s healthcare pathway. They want to create a world where it’s official policy that play is a prerequisite on every child’s medical treatment plan.
Starlight are there to help all decision-makers understand the importance of play, leading thinking on its potential for positive impact, with the science to back it up.
