My Story

When our youngest son was 6 months old we discovered that he had multiple allergies that would lead him to need to carry an EpiPen for anaphylaxis. Doctors said he'd grow out of it at 5 and then 7 and then 14 but now at 16 we still have all the same worries.

People sometimes think that allergies are a joke, believe me they are not, leaving the house every day thinking will something happen today is horrible. Constantly stressing while your child is at school when you can't help as you're not there. And having to tell your child they're not invited to friends events as their parents can't deal with the responsibility of looking after them. You want to wrap your child up in cotton wool but then also want them to lead a normal life. It really messes with your head and your heart 😢

Anaphylaxis UK do great work with families helping them to adjust and get the help they need for everyday life as well as starting school, Uni and much much more.

Chris has already run 3 Marathons and I've always loved watching the London Marathon but it wasn't until I had an operation on one of my feet that I felt really inspired. I knew the following year I would have to have the second foot operated on but put in my entry for the ballot anyway. Never in a million years did I think I'd get a place. I knew rehabilitating and getting into running after a long break from no exercise at all would be hard but I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Chris is running with me for support and to make sure I don't give up. For us to cross the finish line together will be amazing ❤️

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
