My Story
About us
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and bringing people together of all walk's of life.
Running the London Marathon is an extraordinary challenge, one that pushes both the body and mind to their limits. But for me, this journey is about so much more than just crossing the finish line:
I am running the London Marathon in memory of my godfather, a man who inspired me in so many ways. He was an avid sportsman, with a deep love for physical activity, competition, and the sense of achievement that comes from pushing yourself beyond your limits.
Dementia sadly took him from us, but his spirit, determination, and love for sport continue to drive me forward.
This year, I am not only running for him, but for everyone affected by this disease. For the families, the carers, and the individuals facing dementia every day.
I'm proud to be raising money for Dementia UK, a charity that provides specialist support to families living with dementia when they need it most and often have no hope left and nowhere else to turn.
It means the world to me, and it will make a real difference to people who need it. Please join me in supporting a cause so important to me and my family!
Thank you for your support!
Marie
