My Story

Hi, I’m Pepe (as my grandchildren call me).

Back in 2016, my son-in-law Joe ran his first marathon in Paris with his wife. Watching them cross that finish line inspired me — and the following year, in 2017, my stepdaughter and I completed the same challenge. That’s where my running journey began.

Not long after that Paris Marathon in 2017, our world was turned upside down when my wife — and the girls’ mum — was diagnosed with primary breast cancer. Thankfully, her treatment was successful, and she’s now doing well.

Since then, I’ve continued running to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now, supporting their incredible work towards a future where no one loses a loved one to this disease.

Next year, 2026, marks 10 years since I began running and since Joes marathon. To celebrate this milestone, Joe and I will be running the London Marathon, hoping to reach that magical £10,000 in 10 years target.

Every donation, big or small, helps Breast Cancer Now continue their life-saving research and support. Together, we can make sure no family has to go through what ours did.
