About the Students' Union UCL Participation Fund
I am running the London Marathon on behalf of Participation Fund at Students’ Union UCL!
Financial barriers can be especially hard for some students, but Students’ Union UCL believes this should not prevent them from having amazing co-curricular and extra-curricular experiences and opportunities.
The Participation Fund is a pot of money to support current UCL students who are experiencing financial hardship and are therefore facing significant financial barriers accessing Students’ Union UCL clubs and societies, as well as any other co-curricular or extra-curricular activities.
Why am I running?
This cause is especially important to me because I’ve seen first-hand, and experienced myself, the invaluable support the Participation Fund provides for students who want to join clubs and societies.
Being a student, especially in London, is phenomenally expensive! After covering basic living costs, many students simply don’t have the spare money to take part in sports or societies. Yet being part of a club you care about is such an important part of the university experience, and I firmly believe that financial barriers shouldn’t stop anyone from doing something they love!
Thanks to the Participation Fund, I was able to join the sports club I’m part of today. It has allowed me to learn new skills, be part of a supportive team, and access opportunities I would not have had otherwise. Just as importantly, it’s helped me build friendships for life and connections that mean so much to me.
This is why raising money for the fund matters. It helps students make the most of their time at university through meaningful extracurricular experiences. I would be truly grateful for your support, and any donation makes a real difference!
Thank you so much for taking the time to support this cause. 💛
