Marathon Matt Runs for Remap
My Story
About Me
I have watched the London Marathon every year, and looked on in awe as thousands of people push their bodies to the limits, do something amazing for charity and fulfill their dreams.
In 2026 I am so excited to say that I'll be one of those people on the start line, 2 weeks after my 45th birthday, and for what will be my first ever marathon. I am so grateful to Remap for giving me a place and hope I can raise lots of money and awareness for this fantastic charity.
I volunteered for my local Remap group in the past and have maintained that connection through my roles at WheelPower and SIA. This is a charity that relies on volunteers and I know from first hand experience that every penny raised will be spent wisely, creating life changing equipment for disabled people across the UK.
So ... I only started running in January 2024, completing Couch to 5k and now regularly run with my club, the Leighton Fun Runners. I have taken part in a number of races in 2025, including three half marathons which is the furthest I've run to date.
The marathon will be a huge challenge for me but I'm so excited to get the training started and do my absolute best to be fit & ready to complete the 26.2 miles on 26 April 2026! With the 26 theme in mind I have decided to raise £2,600 for Remap and will be so thankful for any donations, big or small that you can give to this great cause. £26.20 donations would be amazing!
Thank you in advance for all your support (I'm going to need it)

About Remap
'Making things possible for disabled people'
REMAP’s mission is to improve the quality of life for people who experience short or long-term disability through infirmity, illness, or ageing. We do this by making and adapting equipment to meet the unique needs of individuals at no cost to them.
The equipment, produced by our team of dedicated volunteers, can help with day-to-day tasks such as mobility, personal care or eating. Or it can enable the client to pursue a hobby or ambition, such as participating in a sport or art activity.

About the London Marathon
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981 (2 weeks before I was born!) a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history.
