My Story

In 2016, a teammate of mine at Silhillians RUFC, Lee “Window” Jones, suffered a life-changing neck injury during a rugby match.

Since then, the RFU Injured Players Foundation (IPF) has been by his side, providing vital support that’s helped him rebuild his life. With their help – and his own determination – Lee hasn’t just recovered; he’s given back to the game he loves. Today, as chairman of Sils, he’s been a driving force behind the club’s success, including the incredible growth of our women’s team.

Having witnessed first-hand the life-changing work the IPF does for injured players, I knew I had to do my bit to give back.

That’s why I’m taking on the London Marathon – despite the fact that I am not a runner (the furthest I’ve ever managed is 8km!) and it will be exactly one year since my own ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery.

It’s going to be a huge challenge – physically and mentally – but knowing that every step will help players like Lee makes it worth it.

If you can, please support me and the IPF. Your donation will help injured rugby players get the care, equipment, and support they need to rebuild their lives.
