My Story

Open Heart Surgery

In 2022 at the age of 29 I had open heart surgery for a mitral valve repair, not something that anyone plans for in their 20s!

The largest medical procedure I had ever had had been a filling at the dentist so this was quite the operation to be recovering from afterwards for a first timer!

I ran an ultra marathon the year of the surgery but post surgery it has taken me several years to get back to a position where I can complete a marathon and or triathlon.

I have decided to fundraise for the British Heart Foundation by running the London Marathon and completing the Mallorca 70.3 Ironman in 2026 to help those people that are in a similar or, as often is the case, a much more serious heart condition that leads to lifelong complications and a change to how they must live. They fund and research life saving heart disease and this is the least I can do to try and help.

I was very lucky with the support I had before and afterwards that helped me fully recover, even though the recovery has taken longer than expected.

Please give as generously as you can to help those that are in a similar position to help diagnose and recover from heart issues.

Thank you very much,
Max

The London Marathon

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
