My Story
Why Maggie's?
In January of 2013, my world was turned upside down with the news that my dear mum, Laura, had been diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer. With the recent news that mum is needing to go to battle once again with another round of chemo treatment, the support of the Maggies team is more valuable than ever.
Over the last 13 years, we have faced many trials and tribulations, but one thing has remained consistent - the support of the Maggie's Centres and their incredible team. Without them, life I'm sure would look very different to the one we're lucky enough to live now.
Maggies is a fantastic charity incredibly close to our hearts, set up to support people and families suffering with the effects of cancer. The team at Maggie's go above and beyond to help those affected by Cancer and have played a huge role in the lives of us Subba Row's.
Maggies Centres offer practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of their supporters. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, housing, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as side efforts of treatment and they offer family support. They offer this through 1-1 support or group sessions.
There are 24 centres in the UK welcoming 100+ visitors into each centre every day.
Despite adamantly not being a runner, I'm incredibly excited to be representing Maggie's in the London Marathon and be able to raise some much needed money for them!
