Mencap London Marathon 2026
Cody & Meiting
My Story
Two Newlyweds. One Big Dream. One Bigger Cause.
Cody: A passionate runner. After completing the Tokyo, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, and New York Marathons, what’s next? Of course – the London Marathon, to complete the Big Six.
Meiting: Since meeting Cody, she’s become an occasional runner. So far, her longest distance has been a half marathon. She never dreamed she’d complete a full one – she’s always felt more comfortable as a supporter rather than a runner.
After our wonderful wedding in June, we were enjoying some peaceful newly-wedded moments.
“What’s our next big project?” Meiting asked.
“I’m not sure… but I’ve got my eyes on the London Marathon,” Cody replied.
“Oh yes, I’ll support you – just like before!”
“How about running it with me?”
“Come on, I can’t do that!”
But that crazy idea kept running through Meiting’s mind. I realised – running for myself wasn’t enough. But running for a cause? For something bigger? That might just get me to the finish line.
Why Mencap?
I work as a school administrator at a specialist school that supports autistic pupils, many of whom also have learning disabilities. I see first-hand the challenges they and their families face – and the difference that understanding, advocacy, and the right support can make.
Mencap’s mission is close to my heart: to support people with a learning disability, their families, and their carers. They fight for a kinder, fairer, and more inclusive society.
Right now, people with a learning disability face inequality in every area of life – with almost 1 in 3 young people spending less than one hour outside their home on a typical Saturday.
By supporting Team Mencap, you’ll be helping to change that.
Our Commitment
We’ve decided to take on the London Marathon together. We’re donating most of the money we received as wedding gifts towards our fundraising goal of £5,000 – and we’re training hard to make every mile count.
This will be my first ever full marathon – and with Cody’s encouragement, I'm determined to make it to the finish. Along the way, I’ll share our training updates and emotional highs and lows, so you'll know this is more than just one-off challenge – it’s a life-changing journey for us and hopefully for many others
How You Can Help
My dear friends, if you can spare even a penny, please consider making a donation here on our fundraising page.
We know support comes in many forms — and we truly appreciate them all. It could be a cheerful message, a handwritten card, a prayer, or even running alongside us for part of the journey.
Together, we can run further, care further, and love further. 💛
