My Story
From 6 Miles to 26 – Help Me Reach the 2026 London Marathon Finish Line (and £2,250!)
Here I am, inspired by the incredible Kieron Gough, who has completed the last 4 London Marathons for Children with Cancer UK, raising an amazing £25,000 to date. Thanks to fundraising like his—and support from people like you—childhood cancer survival rates have climbed from 67.3% in 1990 to 85.2% in 2018 and that kind of impact is all the motivation I need.
But here’s the thing: I’ve only ever run 6 miles, once! I took up running in January 2025 at the age of 46, having never jogged a step before. I did my first 5K at my local Parkrun in February, and somehow (with a very rebellious body!) completed the Porthcawl 10K in July and…. that’s the furthest I’ve ever gone!
And now? Well, in a moment of questionable judgment (or bravery!), I’m training for the full 26.2 miles of the London Marathon!
This is the biggest physical and mental challenge I have ever taken on. It's daunting, it's going to hurt and I know it's going to take every ounce of effort I've got - but I'm doing it to raise £2,250 for Children with Cancer UK, a charity whose vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer.
Every penny brings us closer to better treatments, brighter futures, and more families getting the help they need.
Please donate if you can, share if you can’t—and cheer me on as I tackle the toughest run of my life.
