Running towards a better future for medical research
Melissa Pattemore
My Story
I used to hate running! In fact I couldn't even run a couple of metres. In 2017 my dear friend ran the London Marathon and then my husband in 2018. I felt so inspired and thought maybe I could do that, even though it seemed impossible. I started to run each week, doing the Couch to 5K with my husbands incredible support and patience. After a couple of months I was running a 5km, then 10km, a half marathon and then my first marathon distance during lockdown, in my garden. I needed hours of my Shakin Stevens playlist. I never thought my first marathon would finish by the 2 wheelie bins on my garden path!
I would love to raise £2000 for Animal Research UK. This charity explores ways of progressing with medical research, without the need for animal experimentation. Every year so many animals suffer or die, including dogs. I look at my dog and cannot imagine another dog suffering. This charity is looking for a better future with medical research and better results.
I am thankful to everyone who makes a donation, whatever amount you can manage. It will be wonderful on the day, knowing that with every mile, I have your support. I am going to need it as fuel! Help me put one foot in front of the other and keep me running!
