My Story

Hi!

I’ll be honest — I’m far more comfortable on the sofa watching TV than doing anything remotely athletic. Sport has never really been my thing.

And yet, on 26 April 2026, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon to raise money for ZSL – the Zoological Society of London.

Yes, that’s 42.2 km, and yes, I’m still wrapping my head around it.

I work at ZSL and see first-hand the impact of its work protecting vulnerable wildlife. Animals across the world are facing extinction — from cheetahs in Africa to hazel dormice here in Britain — and ZSL’s conservation work truly spans the globe.

ZSL is an international conservation charity, driven by science, working every day to restore wildlife in London and Whipsnade Zoos, across the UK, and around the world. They are a powerful movement of conservationists working together to save animals on the brink of extinction — and those who could be next.

2026 is also a landmark year for ZSL, marking 200 years since the charity was founded. Being part of that milestone is what convinced this committed sofa-lover to stand up, put on running shoes, and take on a marathon in support of wildlife.

If someone like me — far more likely to choose a box set than a run — can commit to 42.2 Km, then I truly believe we can all do something to help wildlife thrive.
For me, that’s running.
For you, it might be a donation, a share, or a word of encouragement.

I’ve set myself a fundraising target of £2,000, and by supporting me and donating on this page, you’re helping ZSL carry out vital work for wildlife recovery at such an important moment in its history.

Thank you so much for your support — and for helping turn a very non-sporty person into a marathon runner, all for wildlife!
