My Story

I’m running the London Marathon for my son Elliot and for the National Autistic Society.

Elliot turns 14 this month. He is non-verbal and was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder before the age of two. He experiences the world differently, and being his dad continues to teach me more than I ever expected.

Just over a week ago I found out I’d been given a last-minute charity place in this year’s London Marathon. On the very same morning I also discovered that the company I worked for had gone into liquidation. So while life has thrown a bit of uncertainty my way, it does at least mean I’ve got the time to get out running and try to strengthen my knees.

Last year I ran my first ever marathon. The first half went well… the second half was mostly walking after my knees gave up! This year I’m now 50 and hoping a bit of smarter training will help me get round again.

The National Autistic Society does incredible work supporting autistic people across the UK, providing advice, resources and advocacy that make a real difference.

The challenge is that I’ve only got 7 weeks to train and raise £2,200, so both the running and the fundraising are happening at full speed.

If you’re able to help, any donation: big or small: would mean a lot.

Thank you so much for all your support.
