My Story

Ok... I'm actually doing this... and trying to set a world record too!

10th August 2023, the day that changed my life forever. Generally in good health, fit and active. I play football in a dad’s football team with a bunch of mates. I turn up as always start to play (supposedly quite well that night) and towards the end of the session it happened. I collapsed and had a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the amazing people there that night, they saved me. Turns out a firefighter, police officer and a flight attendant are handy people to know. I will forever be in their debt.

I was only out for 15 minutes… it just so happens that effective cpr and a defib can actually work!

Since then I’ve really tried to spread the word about how cpr really can save lives. I returned to football 3 months later and have played ever since. I know I am extremely lucky. I ran the Oxford half marathon in October 2024 and again in 2025 as the back end of an Alpaca.

I’ve continued to set myself lots of challenges. I work as a GP which is both very challenging and rewarding and have had so much support from my family (my wife Judith and my 3 sons), friends, colleagues and patients!

Being able to even consider running the London marathon is an incredible achievement and being able to represent sudden cardiac arrest uk (and raising a stack of money) while doing it is a privilege. I’ll be trying to set a new world record while doing it too!

Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK is a small charity that has a big impact. It provides support to those who have survived and their loved ones, and educates, engages, and guides all those needing help.

I’ve joined the Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK running team late so the fundraising will need a massive effort.

It’ll be an experience, it’ll be emotional, and it’ll be tough and fun at the same time..

If you were able to support me in anyway you can it would be greatly appreciated!

Take care all

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
