My Story

It is a privilege to have the opportunity to run the 2026 London Marathon in support of The Catholic Children’s Society. The CCS supports disadvantaged children and families across London, Hertfordshire and the South East, working with individuals of all faiths and none; their sole aim is to help those in greatest need.

The Catholic Children's Society provides a variety of services to help vulnerable children overcome the challenges they face so they can achieve their full potential and have hope of a brighter future.  These include professional counselling and therapy services, a bereavement support programme and a family centre, stay-and-play and crisis fund.

As a teacher with many years of experience in West London schools, I have seen first-hand some of the incredible support the society provides, as well as having the opportunity to support through a number of smaller school-based initiatives. Running the Marathon, however, is on an entirely different scale.

I would by no means classify myself as a runner, however I was motivated to take on such a momentous challenge in memory of my father, Anthony McLoughlin, a benefactor of the CCS and an accomplished runner in his youth, who passed away in May 2024. It is an incredibly exciting, if not daunting, prospect to take on something I’d never thought I’d do, that supports his legacy and raises funds and awareness for an incredible cause. Thank you in advance for your support – financial or emotional! It is all incredibly appreciated.
