My Story

I'm running my first ever marathon, days before turning 40, to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

I've never run a marathon before. But as I turn 40 in May 2026, it seems like a timely opportunity to take this on; for my Mum.

Those who have the misfortune of following my Instagram will know I'm a avid runner - albeit not an especially good one - and no doubt fed up of my weekly #SundayRunday stories documenting my attempts to jog off the effects of a few too many beers; typically over a comparatively short 5km!

I ran the Royal Parks half marathon three years ago, with a time of 1:56, but the London Marathon (all 26.2 miles / 42.2km of it!) will be a whole new level of challenge. My primary goal is to finish and ideally raise some money along the way. But in some rather ambitious personal target setting, I'm hoping to cross the finish line in under 4 hours. And let’s be hones, there have been a few more gin & tonics along the way since my last race, so it’s going to take some work.

I’ve using the marathon to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK - an organisation doing incredible work to fight a devastating disease.

This cause is deeply personal to me. Pancreatic cancer took the life of my beloved mum, Brenda, far too soon, almost exactly 19 years ago to the day of the race. Supporting this charity is my way of honouring her and helping others who face this cruel illness.

So please, if you can, donate a few pounds to support my run and the amazing work Pancreatic Cancer UK are doing. Every contribution, large or small, will make a difference.

More about Pancreatic Cancer UK

More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for many cancers, but not for pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to changing that - supporting people affected today, campaigning for change, and funding the vital research needed to transform the future. Together, we can help make breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.

Thanks to the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK's dedicated team of researchers, a simple test to detect the cancer earlier is within reach. It just needs more funding.
