My Story
Running for More Than a Finish Line: Cultivating Hope with Help & Care
I love running marathons. I've covered the distance several times, but my journey to the 2026 London Marathon is different. This time, I’m lacing up for a purpose that is intensely personal, running as a charity runner for Help & Care.
While running has always been my great physical outlet, in the recent past, I faced a battle closer to the finish line of my own mind. I struggled with my mental health and, crucially, I decided to seek professional help - a decision that changed a lot.
This experience gave me immense appreciation for the work done in this critical area, especially for men. There’s still a harmful silence surrounding men’s mental health, and I want to help shatter that. We must acknowledge these struggles and encourage everyone to seek help when they need it.
That’s why I am championing Help & Care. As a charity of forty years standing, they empower individuals with physical and mental health conditions to live the most fulfilling lives possible. Everything they do is rooted in compassion, integrity, and a fierce belief that everyone deserves to live life on their terms.
My Marathon journey will specifically support the Roots service at Help & Care. The Roots team supports people living with mental ill health by creating unique opportunities to connect with others, spend time outdoors, and take part in meaningful gardening activities that benefit the wider community.
I know firsthand the value of finding a path back to wellness. Every step I take across those 26.2 miles will be for the chance to help someone else cultivate connection and hope through the incredible work of the Roots team.
Please support me in raising these vital funds. Your donation will help Help & Care continue their drive to put life back on their terms for those who need it most.
