My Story

I am running the world-famous London Marathon on Sunday 26th of April 2026 for Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation! 26.2 miles through the city alongside 50,000 fellow athletes!

I'm running to raise over £2,000 for Fight for Sight and also to raise awareness of visual impairment and the effect it has on everyday life. The banner includes a picture of my legend of a husband who has a degenerative eye condition and lives a full and, frankly, epic life despite the difficulties it causes him.

I'm also running and raising money for all of the brilliant people I've met along the way in the world of visual impairment - from people affected by sight loss, their families, the medics doing amazing research work and the charities and others who support them.

I'm hoping to do some challenging and daft stuff on the way to raise this money and, despite all my running, the actual marathon is still quite the mission! So do consider donating, even the price of a coffee would be great!

Every six minutes someone in the UK is told they are losing their sight - that's life-changing news that is dealt out 240 times each day.

Sight loss in the UK is on the rise at a time of spiralling living costs, when health and social care services are struggling with demand.

The amount of public money currently spent on the problem is nowhere near adequate - only 1.5% of UK medical research is invested into finding new ways to prevent, diagnose or treat sight loss. This equates to just £9.60 for each person whose life has been turned on its head by sight loss.

If you're a blind adult of working age in the UK, there is only a 1 in 4 chance that you're working, and so visually impaired people can face the financial, social and mental impact of unemployment alongside their disability.

The current lack of focussed investment in both research and support of people with sight loss comes at a hefty cost to the individual and to society. Sponsor me today and help fund a future everyone can see.

Save sight, change lives!
