My Story

I am running the London Marathon for the National Deaf Children's Society.

In 2023 my son Oscar was diagnosed as profoundly deaf, at the age 2.5, and as you can imagine this came as a little bit of a shock. He was fitted with hearing aids soon after and most recently has had surgery for cochlear implants. Oscar is now 5 and living life to the max, just like any other young child.  This is in some part down to the amazing support we have received from the National Deaf Children's Society. We were made aware of the NDCS by our audiologist and advised to look into the help and support they could offer. As a family it has given us so much over the last couple of years, from online events that started our BSL journey, to an ever expanding wealth of knowledge and most recently helping to support us through an Education and Health Care plan ready for Oscar to start school. They help to make you realise that you are not alone on this scary, eye opening but amazing journey and that it is something to embraced and celebrated.

I now have an opportunity where I can help raise some money and give a little something back so that help and support can continue for all children up and down the country. I consider it a privalege that they are allowing me to run the marathon on their behalf.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

For a child, every day should be an adventure with a chance to meet new friends and explore the world. But, deaf children are missing out.

Deaf children are losing out on vital support as their audiology and education needs are not being met.

With your support, the National Deaf Children's Society can be there for every deaf child. Together, let's make sure nothing holds deaf children back. Please sponsor me generously to make this happen!

Ninety-five percent of what NDCS does is funded by the public. Their work is only possible thanks to donations from people like you.

£20 could help a family that's just found out their baby is deaf get free, confidential support from the NDCS Helpline.

£50 could go towards NDCS online workshops to help families learn more about deafness and meet other parents.

£100 could contribute towards a sign language course to help parents and families.
