My Story

As you may know, I work for Young Lives vs Cancer and when I was given the opportunity to apply for a marathon spot, I didn’t think twice.

I feel privileged to fundraise and give back to Young Lives, a charity who supported my cousin’s daughter, Alice, back in 2020. We very sadly received the news in October 2020 that Alice, then aged one, had a rare form of cancer, neuroblastoma. This was absolutely devastating for my cousin Izzy, and husband Joe, who faced a long tough journey of endless treatments, hospital visits and check ups for Alice.

I am delighted to say that after months of treatment in hospital, Alice is now in remission, and is thriving at school. It was so special to be able to collect her from school recently and see her running out in her uniform amongst friends.

Sadly the reality is that every day 12 more children and young people (0-25) hear the devastating news they have cancer.  Young Lives vs Cancer helps families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them. We'll face it all together - but we can't do it without you, so thank you so much in advance for your support.

The marathon, and training, will certainly be a big challenge for me, but every pound raised will go directly to helping families like mine, and will spur me on through the 26.2 miles in London!

A couple of examples of the impact £3,000 could make:

- 43 nights of free accommodation at a Home from Home, allowing families to stay close to their child during treatment and offer them a safe place to stay.

- 30 grants to help families cope with the immediate costs of cancer and meet additional expenses like travel, food or household bills

Thank you so much in advance for your support.
