My Story
About my cause!
Hi l'm Rachel, a regular gal attempting to be super human by hobbling the 26.2 mile London Marathon (which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a finish in front of Buckingham Palace) for my local charity, VSA!
I want 'to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world' - a slip taken from the London Marathon blurb about why people run it and raise money.
And it sums it up well. I've decided to run this marathon to raise funds for our local Aberdeen 'homemade' charity of over 155 years, so it can continue looking after its vulnerable people, bringing happiness and care, like it always has for all these years, for many many more years to come- come on VSA!
Health and social care affects us all, we either know someone who is in care, we work in care or we ourselves may need it in our old age. VSA raise money to put towards their many services for vulnerable people including it's school Linn Moor for children with additional needs, it's Mental health services reshaping people's lives and bringing a life saving community, it's older people services creating a support house for the less-able aging folk and our Care at home services bringing care to your door weather it's end of life care or long term support for your needs.
As you may already know, health and social care is being continually challenged by reduced funding,so donations are becoming more important than ever, to keep charities such as VSA alive.
Please join me in attempting being super human, by donating money for your local charity, VSA, today!
Thank you for cheering me, the support workers and service users of VSA on and helping me reach my £2500 goal :)
