My Story

Fourth time lucky - I'm in!

I'm very excited (and a bit nervous) to say that I will be running the London Marathon in 2026!  This has been on my bucket list for a long time now, and after four tries, I've finally bagged myself a spot.

🩵 I will be fundraising for an amazing charity called The Wave Project, which holds a place very close to my heart. 🩵

I have volunteered with The Wave Project for the last 5 years, and will continue to support both their Surf Therapy courses and fundraise for them for as long as possible.

Above all, volunteering for The Wave Project has opened my eyes to the power of kindness.  By gifting your time and energy, by creating a trusting and fun environment, the young people who take part in these course are changed for good, for life.

🩵 Any donation you can offer, big or small, will go towards funding something that is literally changing lives - Thank you so much! 🩵

More information about The Wave Project:

According to the NHS, a staggering 1 in 5 children in the UK have a probable mental health condition. This is up from 1 in 9 in 2017.

This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need to address the mental health crisis that we are facing as a society.

🩵 The Wave Project are committed to tackling this issue head-on, providing innovative and effective solutions to support the wellbeing of young people and their families through their Surf Therapy 6 week courses and Surf Club sessions.

✨ Over 14,000 young people having accessed Surf Therapy to date✨

Mental health problems in early years can have far-reaching consequences, impacting not only the individual but also their families, communities and society as a whole.

The causes of mental health problems in young people are complex, ranging from poverty, trauma and bullying, to family dysfunction.  Left unaddressed, these issues can lead to social isolation, substance abuse and even self-harm or suicidal behaviour.

🩵 The Wave Project recognises the pressing need for accessible and tailored support that caters to the unique needs of young people.

🩵Their programmes are designed to foster resilience, build self-esteem and give participants the tools and strategies they need to navigate challenges in life.

About the London Marathon

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
