My Story
I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for the National Autistic Society in honour of my daughter, Madison.
Madison is autistic and non verbal. She sees and experiences the world differently, and every day she faces challenges that most of us can’t imagine. Yet through it all, she shows so much strength, resilience, and joy. She inspires me more than anyone else ever could.
Here’s the truth: I’m not naturally fit, I’ve never been a runner, and 26.2 miles is something I never thought I’d be able to take on. For me, this marathon is a huge personal challenge. But when I think of Madison, and how much harder she has to work every day just to be understood and included, it puts everything into perspective. If she can face her challenges with such courage, then I can certainly lace up my trainers and run for her.
When Madison started school, three schools told us they couldn’t meet her needs. That was heartbreaking to hear as a parent, but then we found one who welcomed her with open arms, celebrated her for who she is, and gave her the best chance to thrive. That experience showed me the reality: families like ours often have to fight for acceptance and inclusion, when really, it should be the norm.
Running a marathon is tough, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges Madison faces every day just to be understood and accepted. That’s why I’m running: to raise awareness, to celebrate her, and to support the amazing work of the National Autistic Society, who are fighting for a world where autistic people and their families feel understood, supported, and included.
Every mile I run will be for Madison. For the children who are overlooked, for the families who feel unheard, and for the future I want her to have, one full of opportunities, kindness, and acceptance.
Please support me if you can, with a donation, a share, or simply cheering me on. Together, we can make a difference 💜
