My Story

Running the London Marathon for WISHH – Supporting Bereaved Families in Hull

This year, I’m running the London Marathon to raise funds for WISHH (Working Independently to Support Hull Hospitals) — supporting the creation of a dedicated bereavement suite and a separate, private exit at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital.

Working in maternal mental health, I’ve supported women and families through some of the most heartbreaking moments of their lives — including the loss of a baby. I’ve witnessed the silent grief, the emotional aftermath, and just how vital it is to have a space that feels safe, private, and compassionate.

This project means so much to me.

The bereavement suite will offer families a quiet, respectful space to make precious memories— away from the joy and noise of the main maternity ward. Just as importantly, a separate exit will allow them to leave without walking through areas where parents are taking their babies home,  something that can feel unbearably painful during such a vulnerable time.

Every mile I run is for the women, families and babies. With your support, we can help create a space that honours their grief and gives them the dignity they deserve.
