Rebecca Page - Fundraising for The Switch
Rebecca Page
My Story
Hi there! I’m Rebecca, and I’ve decided to run my very first marathon because, clearly, I’m a fan of making questionable decisions! Jokes aside, I couldn’t be more honoured to run the London Marathon in support of The Switch, and what a personal milestone it will be! It also happens to fall in the same week as my 30th birthday, so my glass of wine and birthday cake might be a little belated this year. Either way, it’s an incredible way to enter my 30s.
The Switch is a charity dedicated to supporting young people by providing them with educational experiences that raise their aspirations and improve their career prospects, in and around London. Their work is diverse but includes mentoring, employability skills programmes, and interview preparation.
I’ve decided to run for The Switch because I believe every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Not every child has the support they need, whether at school or in their home environment, so this additional support is absolutely vital. Personally, I wasn’t always the most academic as a child and struggled with transitioning into the world of work after my education. The pressure to perform at such a young age is intense, and I’ve always been incredibly grateful for the mentors who guided me through that time.
Training for this marathon has certainly been challenging so far, but I love pushing myself personally. Having previously been in the Army Reserves, I understand the commitment it takes to complete a challenge like the London Marathon, and I’m excited to put that discipline to good use.
To help raise awareness and support The Switch’s vital work, I’ve set myself a fundraising target of £1,500. Your generosity will go directly towards continuing the fantastic work they do in helping young people realise their potential.
