My Story

About myself

I started running about 18 months ago and never looked back. After extensive travel and running in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan completing multiple Parkruns, and working towards becoming a licensed visual impaired guide runner. The London Marathon for Galloways has become the ultimate goal.

The last year I have volunteered to support service users who are visually impaired in sport. Tuesday evenings involved Tennis, Cricket, Goalball (Look it up and see how competitive it can become) and Baseball. The abilities of all levels participate and demonstrate resilience and the opportunity for social interaction. Baseball appears to be the most popular with adapted rules, which has become established and the Galloways Gladiators now compete in friendly matches and domestic competitions against other VI teams, including Manchester, Liverpool, Hartlepool, and more. There’s even a pathway into the Great Britain setup. My volunteering role has been a privledge and provided a useful understanding into the services and activities Galloways supports to ensure regardless of the level of sight loss they can provide support.
