About The Laura Centre
The Laura Centre is a dedicated grief charity situated in Leicester. Focused on helping families rebuild their lives following a devastating loss. The Laura Centre works with highly trained counsellors to help provide different channels of support.
Rob's Story
In 2013, I ran the London Marathon. My wife Laura, stepdaughter Parice, and brother-in-law Matthew came to cheer me on. It was a brilliant weekend filled with energy and support.
In 2019, it was Matthew’s turn to take on the marathon. I joined him on some of his training runs, and the family including my son Jaiden this time, travelled to London again to support him. Another unforgettable day.
Tragically, in 2022, Matthew passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. His loss left behind a grieving partner and two young children, and our wider family remains heartbroken.
On 1st March 2026, Matthew would be turning 40.
On 26th April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon again but this time to celebrate Matthew’s life, to honour his memory, and to raise as much as possible for The Laura Centre.
The Laura Centre is a Leicester-based charity that offers specialist bereavement counselling to families and children who are struggling after a devastating loss. Their work is deeply meaningful to me, especially as we all navigate the ongoing impact of losing Matthew.
My goal is to support other families in Leicester (Matthew’s beloved football team) and the surrounding area who are facing similar grief. I also hope this effort can contribute to support options for Matthew’s children, if required, now and in the future.
I’m determined to make a difference, to make all of the family proud and to ensure that Matthew’s memory continues to shine.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and a heartfelt thanks for every donation.
