My Story
This April I will be taking on the challenge that is the TCS London Marathon, a milestone in my running journey which seemed impossible 2 years ago. Despite the demanding nature of this race, the training, the distance, the many days of self doubt, I am running not only for the personal milestone, but also for a cause close to my heart.
I will be running the London Marathon to raise money in honour of the loved ones in my life living with cancer. At the end of the day, a few hours spent running around the city will never compare to the hardships they face every single day. The treatments, the countless medications, and the lifestyle changes forced upon them are only a few of the things most of us can hardly begin to understand. I am dedicating this run to them, as a reminder that they are not alone and, most importantly, that they are deeply loved.
I am also running as a reminder to anyone who has a loved one living with cancer to be there for them, to show them love, and to spend every moment they can with them. Those of us supporting from the outside may never fully understand what they are going through or how they are coping, which is exactly why it is our responsibility, as family and friends, to do everything we can.
