My Story
Run Rod Run is back!
Yes, in 2026 I am running the London Marathon to raise funds for MIND.
It is an absolute privilege to be running and raising money for this incredible charity. MIND leads on offering vital mental health support across the country, but each geographical area runs as a separate charity, so I am delighted to be running for MIND here in my own patch serving Mid and North East Essex.
This is an incredible challenge and one that leaves me daunted. I have run the London Marathon twice before in 2019 and 2022. Since then though I haven't kept up with the running and so it is time to get back to it, and now in my mid forties too!
I have set a very ambitious target of raising £5000 but I honestly believe that together we can do this. So, I would be thrilled if you would support my hard work with donations to this brilliant charity. Thank you in advance for every single penny!
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
