My Story
For those that know me, (and for those that don’t)- just know I’m the type of person who’s always up for a challenge, and here’s one I never expected.
A few weeks ago, I got a phone call from the Brain Tumour Charity. They asked me if I would like a place to like to run the London Marathon next year. Truly a bucket list opportunity that I knew I had to say yes to.
Not only was it a chance to run the marathon, but it was a chance to run for a cause close to my heart. One me and my family care deeply about.
My cousin William was diagnosed with a Brain tumour at age 7. William took everything in his stride and did everything with a smile. A true inspiration to me and my family, leaving countless irreplaceable memories. When times got tough: endless rounds of chemo, radiotherapy, surgeries (the list is endless) he never gave up. He was the definition of a trouper.
Sadly, we lost William in August 22’ and he passed away at the age of 18.
So when the opportunity to run for such a special cause came about, the answer was always yes. Not just to prove to myself that I can do hard things, but for the opportunity to raise money for such an incredible charity. One that not only supported William, but continues to support so many others around the world going through the same thing.
Today, 34 people will hear the devastating words 'You have a brain tumour'. And in that moment their world stops.
The Brain Tumour Charity don't stop, and neither do I.
I'm running the TCS London Marathon to pick up the pace of research and improve the lives of everyone affected by brain tumours.
With your support, we can change lives.
