My Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

I was diagnosed with leukaemia when I was 30, and I’m now 8 years clear. It’s been an incredible journey, and now I finally want to give back by raising money for Anthony Nolan - the charity that helped save my life.

A little about my story:

In November 2016, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). My life changed overnight. Making that phone call to my parents was one of the hardest moments of my life. I was incredibly lucky to have the support of my girlfriend (now my wife), my family, and friends who stood by me from the very beginning.

I went through months of chemotherapy, which reduced the leukaemia from 75% to 0.4%, but that still wasn’t enough, I needed a stem cell donor. That’s when Anthony Nolan stepped in.

My sister was only a 50% match, so Anthony Nolan began the search. They found a perfect match in Germany. On 11th July 2017, I received my donor cells. Anthony Nolan even sent me a birthday card to mark the start of my new immune system - a new beginning.

In October, I got the all-clear. Making that call to my parents was the best moment of my life. The following year, I married my girlfriend. Two years later, I had the incredible opportunity to meet my donor, Pascal from Düsseldorf.

Now, I’m nearly 40, married, and a proud dad to two beautiful children. Amazingly, Pascal also has two daughters, aged 2 and 4! Just like me. We met again this year, and it was truly special (see picture above).

So now it’s time to give back. Anthony Nolan gave me the chance to live this amazing life, and I’ve never raised money directly for them, until now. I’ll be running the London Marathon (yes, at 40! 🥵), and I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

Thank you so much for your support.

Anthony Nolan is the pioneering charity that unites people and science to make lifesaving connections - matching stem cell donors to those in need of transplants and treatments and growing their world-leading stem cell register, so everyone can find the match they need.
