My Story

I’m running the London Marathon in memory of my beautiful mum, who passed away just three months ago after a brave 12-year battle with breast cancer. Losing my mum at 28 has shattered my heart in ways I simply can’t put into words, and life without her feels so so hard, especially as I now have to raise my daughter without my mum by my side.

Running became my way of coping with the grief and has been one of the things that has helped force myself up and out in the mornings. My mum always encouraged me to run when I was stressed or feeling low, and so going out for run's feels like my way of connecting with her, of telling her that I'm trying to look after myself as much as I can through the pain I'm feeling. I love listening to her favourite songs whilst I run and I often end up having a little cry too, just thinking about how much I miss her. Because running has been so important in my grief journey, I decided I wanted to take on the ultimate challenge of the London Marathon to honour my Mum’s incredible strength.

I also wanted to run the London Marathon to support a really important charity, Breast Cancer Now, which is a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by breast cancer and funding vital research to one day stop this disease from devastating families like mine.

I’ll be running for my mum; for the laughter we shared, the love she poured into me, and the memories I’ll hold forever. I’ll also be running for my little girl, so that one day she can grow up in a world where breast cancer doesn’t take away the people we love far too soon.

If you can, I'd love your support on this journey! It's a big challenge for me, I only started running a few months ago and have so far only run a few 10k's, so training in the dark depths of Manchester in the winter to try and get myself ready to take on over 40k is going to be tough. So your donation, big or small, really means the world to me. And not just to me, but to everyone still fighting breast cancer, and to the families who, like mine, have lost someone they love.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

And if you can, please come support me on race day! I know I'll need to see your faces cheering me on to be able to make it through.... wish me luck 😅
