Hi Everyone!,
A Little bit about me:
So i never thought this would ever happen to me but here we are haha. Anyone who knows me, knows im not a runner. I walk now and then with friends for a catch up but thats about it.
A few years back i said to my husband Simon i would love to run a marthon by the time i was 40. So i started entering the London Marathon Ballot. 6 years of nos but this year i got the email say CONGRATULATION YOU IN! After a few days of swearing, crying, everyone laughing. I decided what the heck lets give it a try so here we go, I will give 100% and do my best!
The Reason why i have chosen to raise money for AGE CONCERN WINDSOR:
Some of you may already know i work for a small independant charity at the Spencer Denney Centre, Age Concern Windsor.
I first new about the centre when i used to take my friend Mikes mum Cathy their twice a week. And seeing how much of a positive impact it made to her was lovely to see.
The center provides different sevices to support elderly people in the community and they are dementia friendly. They provide: Meals on wheels, Tuesday social Clubs, Sunday lunches, afternoon teas with tunes and a day center for 3 days a week where clients can come and spend the day meeting new people. joining in with fun activities and exercises and a lovely lunch.
They recieve little funding and rely on grants, volunteers and fundraising to help keep the center going.
What it means to me:
When I first wanted to run a marathon, I always said I would choose the Alzheimer's charity. My Granadad and Cathy sadly had this terrible disease and it really effected both them and all the family and friends around. To see your loved ones struggle with the changes to their lives is the worst thing imaginable.
At the centre many of the clients have dementia or alzheimers and being able to be apart of making a someone smile, laugh ( mostly at me lol ) and hearing how much of a help our services provide to many is incredible.
So to end my long essay, any small donation will make such a massive help to support keep these services running and i will be eternally greatful for any donations received. But more importantly if anyone who lives in and around Windsor areas who knows of anyone who would benifit or enjoy visiting the center please do pass on the details below.
