My Story

I'm running the London Marathon 2026 as part of Team Starlight!

As a mature medical student (and hopeful future paediatrican/paediatric surgeon), I  see first hand the emotional  trauma that children can experience in healthcare environments, Without play these can be scary places, play helps to build a sense of normallity in these environments . Play is important and a right for everychild. Starlight give children the chance to be children. The work done by starlight is not just limited to hospitals, they do what they do in chidlrens own homes too, they also are passionate about getting play policy through parliment through the play right tool kit. I really can't summerise what they do on one page, so I emplore you to go to their website and go have a look, the list is extensive. That's why i've chosen to take on London marathon 2026 for this amazing charity. Thank you for thaking the time to read this short message and thank you in advance for your support

The healing power of play

At first glance, it’s easy to think that play happens when the important stuff is taken care of. But for children, play is central to the way they learn and cope with new challenges.

That’s why Starlight are committed to making play matter so much, it becomes an intrinsic part of every child’s healthcare pathway. They want to create a world where it’s official policy that play is a prerequisite on every child’s medical treatment plan.

Starlight are there to help all decision-makers understand the importance of play, leading thinking on its potential for positive impact, with the science to back it up.
