From Homeless to Happy – Siobhan’s London Marathon Fundraiser for Encompass Southwest
Siobhan Westerman
My Story
I'm running the London Marathon 2026 – for a cause that saved my life.
In November 2022, I became homeless. It was the most destabilising, frightening moment of my life – and I didn’t know where to turn. Encompass Southwest and were there when no one else was. They gave me more than a roof over my head. They gave me safety, dignity, and the support I needed to rebuild my life. I’ll never be able to repay them – but this is my way of giving something back.
I’ve never been a runner. It’s not a passion or a hobby – but this cause is. So I’ve signed up to run 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for Encompass Southwest and their new project: a dedicated Women’s Centre in Barnstaple.
This centre will offer a safe, warm, and empowering space for women experiencing crisis. Whether they're facing homelessness, domestic abuse, or need practical support – this centre will be a lifeline. Encompass are partnering with NDADA (North Devon Against Domestic Abuse) once again, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful their work can be when they come together.
The charity needs £20,000 to make this centre a reality. I’ve committed to raising at least £2,500 – but my personal goal is to double that, and reach £5,000, raising a quarter of the total project cost. Do I dare dream of raising the full £20,000? Yes – because I know how much this matters.
If you’ve ever wanted to support something truly life-changing, this is your chance.
Please donate – big if you can, little if you must. Every pound helps create a future where women in crisis have a safe place to land, just like I did.
