About us
I am delighted to be running the London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for this worthy charity. The Pattenmakers Company Charitable Foundation raises funds to improve mobility, education and community wellbeing. Its work includes supporting rehabilitation and bespoke orthopaedic footwear, particularly for injured service personnel and those with serious mobility needs. It also funds education and training through bursaries, apprenticeships and awards, and makes grants to community causes.
Since its first race in 1981, the London Marathon has become a colourful and inspiring annual fixture in global sport. More than a million runners have completed the 26.2-mile route. Celebrated for its atmosphere, fancy dress and fundraising spirit, the event has raised over £1 billion for charity and generated countless stories of human achievement, fulfilling its aim of bringing enjoyment, hope and a sense of accomplishment to participants and spectators alike.
