My Story

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and my Marathon Journey

I am both excited and petrified to be taking on The London Marathon this year on 26th April 2026. But honoured to be taking every step in aid of raising money supporting those suffering with Cancer through the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care. I have seen family members and friends suffering hugely through cancer diagnoses and knowing that organisations such as Cherry Lodge are there for suffers and their families to make treatment, palliative care just that little bit more bareable. Knowing that there are people there to help and provide some small amount of optimism is a huge. I hope that with the funds raised here it will help just some of those suffering from Cancer. Sadly the stats are that at least one in two people in the UK are likely to be diagnosed with cancer with current rates indicating one person every 90 seconds. This becomes all too real when it is your grandparent, parent, friend, colleague.

This year I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease and so learning to tackle the training plan while not causing flare ups and managing my previous ACL replacement is a new challenge to add to the hours plodding the streets!

Running is not my strength but I hope that with your support and the crowds on the day through the streets of London I'll be able to raise a huge amount and will get round the 26.2 miles in tact.

Thank you so much for your donation. If you would like to come out and support me on 26th April I'll be sharing more details in due course.

The London Marathon  - some history

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
