My Story

In preparation for the London Marathon 2026 I will be raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The RNLI complete incredible work in saving lives in the UK’s waters daily.  The RNLI is made up of some incredible members of society whom volunteer their own personal time to save lives; including my own.

During a holiday in Woolacombe, Devon in May of 2025 myself and members of my fiancé’s family found ourselves being swept out to see by an undercurrent.  What started as just a bit of fun playing in the waves quickly turned into a traumatic ordeal that could have ended tragically.  However, thankfully we were all saved by members of the RNLI’s lifeguards, via jet ski’s and life boards, and brought back to safety.

The care and first aid we received is something we as a family will never forget and will forever be grateful, for I am unsure if I would still be here if it was not for them.

All money raised, aids in the saving of lives in the future and gives the incredible volunteers the equipment they need to keep doing the amazing job they do. Despite being physically fit and a strong swimmer (or so I thought), I never believed in a million years that I would need to be saved by a RNLI lifeguard.  The RNLI is a vital part of our emergency services and you never know when or if you will need them.

Due to owing my life to the RNLI, I will be running all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026.  Any donations towards this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Steve
