Thomas's fundraiser for Sands, in memory of Piers Vimpany
My Story
This April I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my Dad, Piers Vimpany, who sadly passed away while on holiday two years ago. He was a loving father and a great friend to so many, and is still sorely missed. Until the time of his passing, he worked for Sands, a fantastic charity who support many people through grief around stillbirth and neonatal death. In his memory, I will be raising money for this fantastic charity, who have showed so much support to my family over the past two years.
Here is a more detailed description of some of the fantastic work Sands does:
Sands is made up of staff and volunteers who work together to ensure that anyone affected by the death of a baby has access to compassionate, experienced support. They offer one-to-one and group support through our various bereavement channels, local groups and Sands United football teams, the family and remembrance events and provide virtual and physical bereavement resources such as memory boxes.
They work to save babies' lives by amplifying the voices of bereaved families and healthcare professionals, campaigning for change in policy and practice, and funding research to understand why babies die.
The funds I raise will help support anyone who has been affected by pregnancy loss or the death of baby, as well research understanding why a baby might die.
