My Story

Hi everyone,

In April 2026, I’ll be taking on one of the biggest challenges of my life: running the London Marathon for the incredible charity Anthony Nolan. As many of you know, I lost my dad to a rare blood cancer (MDS) when I was just nine years old. Next year will mark ten years since he passed, and the marathon takes place just one week before that anniversary. It felt like the right time to do something meaningful – something for him.

My dad always dreamed of running the London Marathon himself, and while he never got the chance, I’m doing it for him now – to honour his memory and support other families like ours. Anthony Nolan helped find my dad a stem cell donor, and although it wasn’t a cure, it gave us something we’ll always be grateful for – more time together. More time to laugh, to talk, and to just be a family.

Early last year , I was incredibly lucky to be offered a charity place to run for Anthony Nolan, and I honestly couldn’t think of a more fitting way to mark this milestone. The charity was one of the first to support us after my dad’s diagnosis, and their work continues to change lives every single day. They match stem cell donors with people facing blood cancer, giving them a second chance at life and hope at a time it’s needed most.

This marathon is a huge personal challenge for me. I’m not a runner, and training for 26.2 miles is way out of my comfort zone – but I’m ready to give it everything. Every step I take will be for my dad, to raise awareness and for families going through what we did.

I’m aiming to raise £2,000 to help support Anthony Nolan’s life-saving work. If you’re able to donate, it would honestly mean so much to me and my family. And if not, simply sharing this page or sending a few kind words means more than you know.

Training is now well underway and now it's time to fundraise! It's a really exciting time with only just under 3 months to go until i run the London Marathon for not only Anthony Nolan as a charity but for my Dad - Gavin, for friends that we have seen affected by this horrible disease, the families it has devastated and for every family far and wide that Anthony Nolan help and support every single day. Your donations and support do not go unnoticed by myself or them.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this journey. I’m running this for you Dad – and for every family that was like my own and are still fighting for more time and a little glimmer of hope.

Tilly💙
