My Story
I'm taking on the London Marathon 2026 in aid of The Eve Appeal.
In April 2024, my wife was unfortunately diagnosed with the very rare Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma, which had spread to her pelvic area. After 9 months taking hormone inhibitors, she underwent extensive surgery at The Royal Marsden, which was followed by 7 weeks of intensive radiotherapy. As you can imagine, these events have had a significant impact on not only Tracy, myself and our children but our whole family and support network. Naively, none of us really had much knowledge of gynaecological cancers prior to these events, but then we discovered The Eve Appeal! And we are now on a mission to raise as much awareness as possible to everyone that will listen.
The Eve Appeal is the leading gynaecological cancer charity funding research and raising awareness into the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.
The Eve Appeal's vision is a world where all gynaecological cancers are prevented or detected at an early stage.
To make their goals a reality, The Eve Appeal fund research that aims to identify the causes of gynae cancers, predict and reduce a person’s risk of developing them, and improve their detection and diagnosis.
They also educate people about their gynaecological health and anatomy and the signs and symptoms of gynae cancers. And answer people’s questions about their gynae health and gynae cancers through their nurse service, Ask Eve.
