My Story

About me

Two years ago, I had barely ran in my life.  I thought I'd do a little couch to 5km thing at the local running club and once I was there, I was hooked.  I'm not the fastest or the most dignified runner you will ever see but I keep on trying. So when the ballot email told me I had secured a coveted place in the 2026 London Marathon, I was both excited and terrified.

I don't have to raise money for anyone - as a ballot runner I can just run and enjoy my day. But I work at Saint Francis Hospice so I see every day the difference fundraising makes to charities such as this.  Which is why I have decided to fundraise for Saint Francis Hospice.

Saint Francis Hospice is a very special place, providing palliative and end of life care across Havering, Brentwood, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham. As an independent charity there is no cost to the people who use the hospice services.  And the services aren't just about the immediate clinical need. The hospice provides support groups, community care, family support and much much more. Most people don't know that it costs around £12million per year to provide everything that the hospice does, and we recieve less than 30% funding from government and other statutory bodies.  So fundraising is vital to the ongoing delivery of services.

I can run - albeit slowly and whilst moaning.  I can do a 10km but it takes a lot of support and motivating to get me round. I have 9 months to go from this - to a full on marathon runner. I am committed to doing the work to get me there. So please can you commit to helping me fundraise and reach my target so that the wonderful people I work with can continue their work supporting people who really need it.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart :)
