My Story
In April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my cousin, Georgina Hetherington - 'George' or 'G' to those who had the privelege of knowing her.
George was diagnosed with bowel cancer in late 2021. Over the next three years, she faced unimaginable ups and downs, but she took the fight to cancer from day one and never stopped smiling. Her determination and endless positivity remain a constant inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her.
George and I shared a passion for running, especially when we lived together in London. We supported one another through our separate London Marathons (G ran it 10 years ago, in 2016), and George loved everything about Marathon Day — whether running herself or cheering from the sidelines.
Running has taken a backseat for me in recent years, but I know George would be egging me on to have another crack. Attempting the marathon in George's honour is the best motivation I could ask for.
Why Cynthia Spencer Hospice?
During George's final weeks, she was cared for by the incredible team at Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The hospice now holds a very dear place in our hearts. We are forever grateful for the respect and compassion George was shown and the care that ensured she was comfortable at the end. Without Cynthia Spencer's support, those final days would have been so much tougher for George and her loved ones.
Your Support
I am running 26.2 miles to say thank you to Cynthia Spencer and to ensure other families receive that same compassion and dignity.
Any donation, no matter the size, helps Cynthia Spencer Hospice continue their vital work. Thank you for your support.
