My Story

As many of my close family and friends may already know, on the 7th October 2024 I suffered a really traumatic birth. I was intubated and ventilated on life support and due to incorrect care my life and my baby's life was put in danger. This is still undergoing investigation with the trust 10 months later and at the moment no further in findings, only an apology so far with no explanations.

Due to anaesthetic and maternity care errors, I ended up becoming numb above the “normal” for a c section and it caused me to be unable to breathe for a long period of time, which sadly lead to respiratory arrest. During this time my baby boy was also suffering and needed resuscitation when he was delivered via Caesarean. I was none the wiser, out cold and would continue to be this was for a further 13 hours until I was able to be exctubated.

A very scary time for me and my family and as you can imagine how traumatising being put to sleep and being numb, unable to breathe, unable to communicate, thinking I would never wake up and meet my baby. Thankfully, I’m alive, well and have a happy healthy baby boy, but this could have been so much different.

I’m running to support an amazing charity a Baby Lifeline, a charity dedicated to giving every baby and mother the best possible start in life and supporting the frontline heroes who care for mothers and newborns. In moments like my experience, greater care is needed and a voice to advocate for mothers and their babies.

Baby Lifeline is a UK Based national charity focused on improving safety and care during childbirth. They support frontline NHS staff by providing essential equipment, developing training programs, and advocating for better maternity and neonatal services. Their work aims to prevent injuries and deaths related to childbirth and improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

Every mile I run is for families who need hope, care, and protection. Maternity care around the UK is recognised to be failing in certain trusts and hospitals. I believe that a charity like this can help make some key fundamental changes to avoid experiences like my own.

Please join me in making a difference — your support could save a life ❤️

Training for such a massive event is going to be such a challenge for me physically, mentally and emotionally. I suffered so much postpartum and only really starting to come out the other side from the PTSD and trauma that I had to suffer. It's not going to be easy, but it will be so worth it crossing that finishing line with a cause to run for.

Any donations are appreciated, no matter how small or large, you will be supporting an amazing charity.
