The Gorilla Organization was established in 1989. We carry forward the ground-breaking work of Dr Dian Fossey. Our mission is to ensure the survival of the world's remaining wild gorilla populations.

Our vision is one where all gorilla species and subspecies coexist sustainably within their habitats. This is primarily upheld by local communities, supported by national governments and the global community.

We pioneer community-led conservation. By improving socio-economic conditions in marginalised communities near gorilla habitats, we reduce reliance on forest resources and empower local people to protect the environment from outside threats—from commercial bushmeat hunting to international extractive industries—while safeguarding gorillas within their natural habitat.

Our fundraising and administration headquarters in London supports gorilla conservation fieldwork in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda.
